Triple West Medical are seeking a motivated and forward-thinking substantive Consultant Ophthalmologist with a specialist interest in Cataract Surgery to join a dynamic and patient-centred NHS service based in South West Scotland.

The Role
* Deliver high-volume, high-quality cataract surgery with excellent clinical outcomes
* Contribute to the provision of comprehensive general ophthalmology services
* Participate in outpatient, theatre, and on‑call commitments
* Support service development, innovation, and pathway redesign
* Contribute to clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
* Play an active role in teaching and supervision of trainees and multidisciplinary colleagues
There is scope to develop subspecialty interests in line with service needs.
The Department
* The Ophthalmology service provides a comprehensive range of secondary care treatments within modern facilities.
* Dedicated ophthalmic theatres
* Advanced phacoemulsification platforms
* Multidisciplinary clinical team including specialist nurses, optometrists, and orthoptists
* Strong clinical governance framework
* Collaborative and supportive consultant body
The Candidate
* Hold full GMC registration with a licence to practice
* Be on the Specialist Register for Ophthalmology (or within six months of CCT at time of interview)
* Demonstrate strong competency in modern cataract surgical techniques
* Show evidence of audit, quality improvement, and service development
* Possess excellent communication and teamworking skills
* A track record of high-volume cataract surgery with strong outcomes data is desirable.
