Clinical Trials Assistant

The Gastroenterology IBD Clinical Trials Team are looking for a Clinical Trials Assistant to support an increasing portfolio of IBD clinical trials. This role is full‑time (37.5 hours/week) on a fixed‑term/secondment basis and involves coordination, administration, and support of IBD clinical research, following Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Applicants will not be eligible for a Skilled Worker Visa; HUTH will not be able to issue a Certificate of Sponsorship.
Main duties
 * Assist IBD clinical research teams with all aspects of trial administration and coordination.
 * Recruit, screen, and care for patients participating in IBD clinical trials.
 * Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of nurses, physicians, and external partners (pharmaceutical companies, research networks, clinical trial units).
 * Maintain accurate patient records, documentation, and trial data in compliance with GCP and trust policies.
 * Provide general office support: Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook), Windows operating systems, and scientific protocol basics.
 * Prioritise workload, work independently and flexibly, and respond to evolving service needs across the Trust.

Person specification
Education and qualifications
 * GCSE level education, including English.
 * NVQ Level 3 in Health Care/Care (or willingness to pursue).
 * Good Clinical Practice Course (or willingness to undertake).
 * Familiar with paper and electronic hospital records (or willingness to be trained).
Experience
 * Experience working with patients in a healthcare environment, preferably NHS.
 * Proficient in Microsoft Office.
 * Demonstrated experience dealing with clinical situations.
 * Previous research experience and knowledge of clinical trials and GCP guidelines.
 * Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to the clinical area.
Communication and interpersonal skills
