Principal Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist

We are excited to advertise a new opportunity within Wakefield CAMHS as a Principal Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist. We are looking for a committed interest in psychoanalytic thinking to improve outcomes for young people in our multidisciplinary team.
We are seeking applicants with experience in leadership or management. The successful candidate will:
1. Provide clinical leadership and lead service development of the Under 5s Pathway in Wakefield.
2. Use an established psychotherapeutic delivery model to provide highly specialist child and adolescent psychotherapy assessment and treatment to children and their families/carers, along with advice and consultation on their care.
3. Oversee the management, referrals, waiting list, and overall productivity of the Wakefield Under 5s Pathway, and provide clinical supervision to other members of the pathway.
4. Contribute to the evaluation, monitoring, and development of the pathway.
5. Provide consultation, teaching, and training for multidisciplinary staff within CAMHS and related agencies, and support training activities of the Northern School of Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy and Trust staff.
6. Lead and contribute to audit and research activities.
Main duties of the job
* Provide clinical leadership of the Under 5s Pathway in Wakefield.
* Participate in clinical leadership within Wakefield CAMHS more broadly.
* Develop and embed an established psychotherapeutic delivery model for the pathway.
* Oversee specialist assessments, formulation, intervention, and consultation for children and families.
* Lead service development, evaluation, and quality improvement initiatives.
* Offer clinical supervision and support to trainees and staff.
* Provide consultation, teaching, and training to internal and external staff to facilitate high-quality multi-agency working.
* Supervise 8A Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists and clinical training at NSCAP.

Job responsibilities
Job Summary
Lead clinical and service development of the Under 5s Pathway, providing highly specialist assessments and therapies, and advising non-psychotherapist colleagues and the wider professional network.
Manage the pathway’s productivity, referrals, and waiting lists, providing clinical supervision to team members.
Contribute to the evaluation, monitoring, and development of the service, and lead on audit and research activities.
Work autonomously within the framework of Trust policies and procedures, with ongoing review of the post content.
Job Dimensions
Responsible for clinical leadership, supervision, and line management of clinicians and trainees. May participate in on-call duties.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Professional Doctorate in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy or equivalent, with comprehensive study of psychoanalytic theories.
* Registered with the Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP).
* Post-qualification training in relevant areas.
* Additional academic or research experience is desirable.

* Training in supervision of child psychotherapists.
Knowledge/Skills
* Doctoral-level knowledge of child and adolescent psychotherapy theories and models.
* Skills in change management, policy implementation, and risk assessment.
* Effective communication skills for diverse audiences.
* Ability to integrate clinical and outcome data into practice.
* Research design and methodology knowledge, with a record of peer-reviewed publications.
