As a Senior Soils Surveyor, you will:
* Lead and assist with the coordination and delivery of soil and land use assessments as part of Environmental Impact Assessments for a wide array of projects across Utilities and Infrastructure.
* Coordinate, lead and delivery Agricultural Land Classification surveys.
* Proactively manage project components, overseeing subcontractors and quality assurance to ensure successful project delivery.
* Provide expert soils and land use advice and support to clients and internal stakeholders, helping them navigate complex environmental challenges.
* Engage with consultees and stakeholders, fostering strong relationships and ensuring effective communication.
* Develop outstanding reports and have the ability to summarise and explain outcomes to non-technical audiences, making complex information accessible and actionable.
* Ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies and procedures, including preparing and reviewing health and safety plans and managing on-site safety.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Relevant degree in soil or environmental sciences
* An experienced soil surveyor /scientist preferably within a consultancy environment and/or with multi-disciplinary experience.
* Demonstrable experience of soil logging and field survey for the production of Agricultural Land Classification (ALC) and Soil Resource surveys.
* Member of the British Society of Soil Science and Chartered or working towards chartership with a relevant accredited institution.
* Good understanding of Environmental Impact Assessment and the planning process in relation to soils and land use.
* Strong report writing, verbal, and presentation skills, with experience in reviewing the work of others to ensure quality.
* Experience in multi-disciplinary working, with excellent project management and technical skills.
* Experience in consulting and negotiating with planning authorities, regulators, and stakeholders.
* Commercial expertise, including forecasting, project management, and quality assurance.
* A valid UK driving license and willingness to travel to meetings, client offices, and project sites.
