Our client is a well-established and growing fabrication and engineering business delivering high-quality steel fabrication, structural steelwork, and bespoke engineering solutions across a range of sectors. Due to continued growth and an increasing project pipeline, they are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute professional to take ownership of projects from tender through to final account, ensuring commercial success while supporting the delivery of high-quality engineering and fabrication projects.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the commercial aspects of multiple fabrication and engineering projects.
Prepare, submit, and negotiate valuations, applications for payment, variations, and final accounts.
Monitor project costs, budgets, and forecasts to ensure profitability targets are achieved.
Identify, assess, and manage commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
Review and administer contracts, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
Procure subcontractors and suppliers and manage associated accounts.
Work closely with project managers, design teams, and operational staff to support project delivery.
Produce accurate commercial reports and forecasts for senior management.
Negotiate and agree variations and change control processes with clients.
Support tendering activities by providing commercial input, pricing reviews, and cost advice.
Maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and key stakeholders.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction, fabrication, engineering, or related industries.
Strong understanding of cost management, contract administration, and commercial reporting.
Experience managing subcontractor accounts and procurement processes.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Desirable
Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.
Experience within structural steelwork, fabrication, engineering, or manufacturing environments.
Knowledge of NEC, JCT, or bespoke contract forms.
Strong understanding of project lifecycle management and cost control.
