Accounts Assistant
Location: Hook – Fully Office Based
Salary: £28,000 – £30,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am-5pm
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Transactional / General Ledger Accounts Assistant to join a dynamic finance team within a successful and growing organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in transactional accounting who enjoys working across both purchase and sales ledger functions, as well as supporting month-end and general ledger processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and reconcile purchase ledger and sales ledger accounts
Process invoices, payments, credit notes, and staff expenses accurately and promptly
Perform bank reconciliations and assist with cashbook management
Support the month-end close process, including journal postings and balance sheet reconciliations
Assist with VAT returns, accruals, and prepayments
Liaise with suppliers and internal departments to resolve queries efficiently
Support the finance team with ad hoc reporting and project work as required
Skills & Experience Required:
Proven experience in an accounts assistant role
Proficient in Excel and experience with accounting software (e.g. SAP)
High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
