Overview
Consultant Psychiatrist post at Dr Gray’s Hospital, Elgin. The post offers protected SPA time and involves consultant input to the East Moray catchment area covering the Maryhill GP practice. It is based in Dr Gray’s Hospital, a modern District General Hospital with a range of specialties and diagnostic facilities. The role is part of Moray’s integrated joint board with General Practice and the local authority, offering a high quality of life and good transport links.
Responsibilities
- Provide consultant input to the East Moray catchment area.
- Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
- Register with the Continuing Professional Development Programme of the Royal College of Psychiatrists; all costs are met by NHS Grampian.
- Engage in research and maintain close links with the Departments of Mental Health and Psychology at the University of Aberdeen.
- Contribute to audit and other elements of clinical governance.
- Participate in an annual appraisal towards revalidation.
- Collaborate to agree a detailed job plan with the successful candidate at appointment, tailored to service needs and the candidate’s experience, skills and interests.
Qualifications & Eligibility
- Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC in place prior to starting.
- UK-trained psychiatrists: evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register.
- CESR or Portfolio Pathway route doctors: eligible for a substantive Consultant post only after registration is awarded.
- Doctors with an International Recognised Specialist Qualification approved by GMC and a confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register.
- Locum Consultant posts (up to 12 months) available for doctors not yet listed on the GMC Specialist Register.
- Candidates unable to work full time for personal reasons may be considered with an appropriately amended job description.
