We are seeking a reliable and proactive School Caretaker to join our supply team in Wrexham. This flexible role involves maintaining school premises, ensuring a safe and clean environment for staff and pupils, and carrying out basic repairs and site security. Ideal candidates will have previous caretaking or maintenance experience, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently. Enhanced DBS required.
Job Specification
Caretakers are responsible for looking after a school site including the buildings and grounds.
The duties of a school Caretaker include:
1. General maintenance and minor repairs
2. Liaising with contractors
3. Managing heating and alarm systems
4. Security
5. Opening and closing the school
6. Basic cleaning
7. Key holding.
Caretakers must be honest, reliable and trustworthy. They must be able to work well on their own using their own initiative, as well as working within a larger team.
Candidates will ideally have previous caretaking experience; however New Directions will consider candidates who have a background in maintenance, decorating, facilities or security.
It’s mandatory that caretakers have a clear DBS either registered with the Update Service or a New Directions DBS.
