Senior Design Engineer
A leading clean energy technology company is hiring a Senior Design Engineer to drive innovation across next‑generation high‑temperature reactor systems for advanced clean‑energy applications. If you want to design complex systems, develop novel reactor technology, take ideas from concept through to proof‑of‑principle, and work hands‑on with a world‑class engineering team, this is the type of role.
Permanent, Full‑time.
Responsibilities
* Create design requirements and identify technical risk areas.
* Deliver robust design solutions aligned to fundamental design criteria.
* Develop 3D CAD models and engineering drawings for components, assemblies, test rigs and fixtures.
* Take ownership of assemblies/components, driving design activity across multidisciplinary interfaces.
* Deliver parts, assemblies and systems from concept through to proof‑of‑principle.
* Generate innovative concepts with strong IP potential while considering freedom‑to‑operate.
Requirements
* Degree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline, with strong industrial experience in mechanical and/or reactor system design.
* Ability to perform hand calculations to support early‑stage design and validate simulation outputs.
* High proficiency in 3D CAD tools & a strong understanding of geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T).
* Understanding of physical failure modes and root‑cause analysis techniques.
* Ability to perform structural FEA.
* Knowledge of high‑temperature chemical reactor design.
* Experience with chemical reaction modelling or heat exchanger design.
* Experience using ANSYS Workbench or manufacturing process simulation tools.
