Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review Working. 36.5 hour per week. Hybrid working (mainly remote, one day per week in office). Are you passionate about turning complex data into meaningful insights that drive strategic decisions? Birmingham City Council is seeking a Data, Insight & Analytics Officer to join our Refugees & Migration Team within Adult Social Care Commissioning. This newly created role responds to emerging workstreams around asylum, resettlement, and migration, where data is critical to understanding community needs and informing citywide planning. As Data, Insight & Analytics Officer you will be responsible for organising incoming data from government and providers, developing visual insights, and helping the team build a consistent approach to data interpretation. Your work will directly influence decisions on property procurement, community safety, and strategic planning for newly arrived communities.
Responsibilities
* Synthesise external datasets (e.g. property lists, ethnicity data, employment stats) into actionable insights.
* Develop dashboards and visual tools to support strategic decision‑making.
* Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to improve data flow and consistency.
* Support the City of Sanctuary programme and other migration‑related initiatives.
Qualifications
* Experience working with demographic and location‑based data.
* Strong analytical and visualisation skills (e.g. dashboards, mapping).
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
* Public sector experience is helpful but not essential.
