Our client is seeking an experienced Manual Machinist to join their manufacturing team within a precision engineering environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled machinist who enjoys hands-on engineering work and producing high quality components to tight tolerances. This role is suited to someone confident working with manual machines in a fast paced workshop, where accuracy, attention to detail, and pride in workmanship are essential. What’s on Offer? Job type: Full-time Location:Hailsham Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience Key Responsibilities: Set up and operate manual machining equipment including lathes, milling machines, and related workshop tools Manufacture precision components to engineering drawings and specifications Work to tight tolerances ensuring high levels of accuracy and quality Carry out routine checks and measurements using precision measuring equipment Maintain a safe, clean, and organised working environment Collaborate with engineering and production teams to meet manufacturing requirements Identify and report any quality or machining issues promptly Skills, Experience, and Requirements: Previous experience as a Manual Machinist in a manufacturing or engineering environment Ability to read and interpret technical drawings Strong understanding of machining principles and workshop practices Experience using precision measuring equipment (e.g. verniers, micrometers, gauges) High attention to detail and commitment to quality Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively Experience with both milling and turning operations Background in precision engineering or low-volume/high-mix manufacturing Apprenticeship or engineering qualification (HNC/HND or equivalent) Our Ideal Candidate: Skilled, hands-on engineer with pride in their workmanship Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious Detail-focused with a strong quality mindset Able to work independently and as part of a team Calm, methodical, and able to meet production deadlines Proactive in problem-solving and continuous improvement How to Apply: If you are an experienced Manual Machinist looking for a stable role within a precision engineering environment, we would love to hear from you.
