Polypipe Building Services houses well-known industry brand Terrain and has been delivering systems to commercial, high rise residential, healthcare, education and leisure projects for over 50 years. Role Overview: To manage the manufacture, development and supply of virgin and recycled materials for our Extrusion and Injection Moulding processes. Responsibilities: Production of dry blend and pelletised materials in accordance with the production schedule, ensuring sufficient material stock availability to meet customer sales demand. Support sustainability initiatives through development of recycled material processes and production readiness, ensuring that waste is minimised. Manage the day-to-day activities within the mixing plant, taking ownership and accountability for departmental performance, process optimisation and improvement initiatives Work with key internal teams (purchasing, laboratory, production, quality) and external raw material suppliers to co-ordinate the development of materials and production processes aimed at increasing efficiency, quality and / or reduce cost. Embed Daily Management (QDIPE) meetings with appropriate key performance indicators problem solving initiatives. Responsibility for changes and updating of material specifications including communication via ECR’s (Engineering Change Request) and ERP updates to reflect current product structure and costs. Work closely with production teams and process engineers to support the resolution of ad-hoc material processing issues. Work closely with Engineering support functions to ensure there is a Mixing planned maintenance programme in place, with appropriate management of associated budgets. Accountability for Mixing Department capital investment projects to future proof our processes and increase efficiency. Requirements: In depth knowledge and understanding of plastic materials. Technical knowledge and understanding of mixing processes and equipment. Previous experience in production/operational process and team management. Ability to lead and drive change initiatives and improvements. Proven ability to write and submit high value / complex capital expenditure requests. Proven ability to embed preventative / planned maintenance schedules. Strong computer skills – knowledge of Microsoft and ERP. Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to problem solve and initiate countermeasures for improvement.
