Welcome! Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin NHS Talking Therapies is a busy caring team consisting of Administration staff, PWPs, CBT Practitioners, and Counsellors.
Main duties of the job
* Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service.
* Assess and support people with common mental health problems in self‑management of recovery.
* Undertake patient‑centred assessments to identify areas where the person wishes to see change and to make an accurate assessment of risk to self and others, deciding on suitability of new referrals, referring unsuitable clients to relevant services or stepping up treatment to high intensity therapy.
* Provide a range of information and support for evidence‑based low‑intensity psychological treatments, including guided self‑help computerised CBT and pharmacological treatment information; work may be face‑to‑face, telephone or other media.
* Educate and involve family members and other carers as necessary.
* Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the total number of client contacts and clinical sessions per week to minimise waiting times and keep treatment accessible and convenient.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Evidence of ability to study at year 1 undergraduate level (level 4 Certificate/Diploma).
* Evidence of ability to study at year 1 undergraduate level AND work or lived experience of mental health.
* Psychology or other health‑related undergraduate degree or higher.
Skills and Competencies
* Computer literate and good communication skills.
* Completed training to inform practice and good common‑factor skills.
* Use of clinical risk assessment within practice; excellent communication skills.
Knowledge
* Knowledge of how anxiety and depression present at primary care.
* Knowledge of NHS talking therapies and presentation in primary care.
* Understanding of the evidence base for anxiety and depression and impact on work and mental health.
Experience
* Experience working with mental health for a minimum of 12 months, demonstrating ability to write clear reports.
* Evidence of more than 12 months experience working with people who have experienced mental health difficulties.
* Experience working in primary care, managing own caseload, and achieving targets.
Training
* Attend the course as required.
* Exercise training into practice and attend the course.
* Be aware of demands of academic components and attend training accordingly.

* Motivation for the role, good communication skills, teamwork.
* High motivation, experience of clinical supervision and personal & professional development.
* Self‑reflection, confidentiality, work under pressure, driving licence, fluent in languages other than English.
