Field Service Commercial GAS Engineer - Armstrong Fluid Technology
Location: Remote based with travel in around the Glasgow & North Yorkshire area (Possibly UK and Ireland). The position includes a company Van to support the travel.
Reports to: Service Manager
Armstrong Fluid Technology leads the industry in fluid flow, heat transfer, variable speed pumping, pressurisation units and demand‑based control systems. As part of our UK operation based in Droitwich Spa, we manufacture specialist heating systems for use within the gas transmission industry.
We are seeking a gas engineer based in the Glasgow area to join our field service team to service and maintain our heating systems including boilers up to 600 kW output and associated pumps and control systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Install, commission, repair, overhaul, and service products, ensuring compliance with quality standards and established procedures.
* Troubleshoot and resolve issues with relay logic and PLC‑based control systems within the product range.
* Complete accurate and timely reports on work performed, ensuring all associated paperwork is submitted promptly.
Customer Service & Support
* Deliver exceptional customer service, addressing customer requirements and providing proactive solutions during on‑site visits.
* Stay updated on company products, promoting alternatives and additional services where applicable.
Product/Service Improvement
* Identify opportunities for product, service or operational improvements.
* Support the technical team by providing detailed internal reports on product failures and participating in on‑site evaluations.
Compliance & Standards
* Adhere to safe working practices per Health and Safety regulations.
* Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 requirements.
* Collaborate with team members and other departments to meet service standards and business objectives.
* Maintain strong relationships across departments to foster a collaborative team environment.
* Engage in training opportunities to enhance technical knowledge and skills.
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you should bring:
Education & Experience
* Substantial experience in mechanical and/or electrical engineering.
* GCSE qualifications (A‑C), A Levels, or an Apprenticeship qualification/HNC.
* Key commercial gas tickets: CIGA1, CENWAT, COCN1, CPA1, ICPN1, TPCP1A.
* Valid clean driving license is essential.
* Current and valid CSCS card or equivalent.
Technical Skills
* Knowledge of HVAC products & systems.
* Proficiency in completing accurate reports and paperwork.
* Strong understanding of engineering principles, particularly in manufacturing, construction, or mechanical services.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic PC applications.
* Knowledge of fire safety regulations and compliance standards.
Soft Skills
* Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in the field.
* High self‑motivation with a focus on delivering quality and efficiency.
* Proactive and flexible approach, able to perform well under pressure.
* Ability to manage relationships with customers and key stakeholders effectively.

Key skills: Experience of servicing, fault finding and repairing boilers.
Understanding of electrical controls systems is desirable. Full product training will be provided to the successful candidate.
