Position Overview
This is a well‑established post that has been vacant due to the previous consultant leaving the organisation. The role is funded as eight Programmed Activities (10 PAs) with 7.5 Direct Clinical Contact activities (DCC) and 2.5 Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs). Currently the post is filled by a locum doctor. It is a substantive post and flexible working, job share or fixed‑term arrangements may be considered.
Location
Basildon and Brentwood, Essex. The service is provided by one team with a single management structure, but is carried out across two main bases.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide senior medical support to multidisciplinary teams delivering care to children and young people with mental health needs.
* Give direct input on clinical cases and supervise team members.
* Work directly with children, young people and their families.
* Liaise with external CAMHS mental health providers and acute hospitals.
* Collaborate with another CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist (Dr. Coleen Lyder) and share supervision responsibilities for future trainees within the team.
