Your new role
As a Senior Plumbing & Heating Engineer, you will be a key member of the Reactive Maintenance team, delivering a professional, customer‑focused service across a varied estate. Reporting to the Reactive Maintenance Manager, you will work independently to manage and prioritise your workload, responding to both reactive and planned preventative maintenance requirements.
The role will involve installing, maintaining, fault‑finding and repairing plumbing, heating, gas and mechanical systems, including boilers, pumps and associated plant. You will support statutorypliance activities, act as an Authorised Person for relevant permit systems (subject to training), and supervise specialist contractors when required.
You will also provide technical support during incidents and emergencies, mentor apprentices and improvers, and work collaboratively with wider estates and projects teams to identify system improvements, reliability issues and opportunities for energy and water efficiency. Participation in an on‑call rota forms part of this role.
What you'll need to succeed
1. A recognised time‑served apprenticeship or equivalent in plumbing, heating or mechanical engineering
2. NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds or equivalent qualification
3. Strong experience in plumbing, heating, gas and mechanical maintenance
4. Solid fault‑finding skills acrossplex building services systems
5. Knowledge of current health & safety legislation, risk assessments and safe systems of work
6. Awareness of gas safety and water hygiene requirements ( L8 ACOP)
7. Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work under pressure
8. Good customer‑facing andmunication skills
9. Confidence using tablets or CAFM systems for recording work andpliance
10. A full UK driving licence and flexibility to take part in the on‑call rota
Gas Safe registration mercial desirable), unvented systems certification, and experience in large orplex estates would be advantageous.
