Dermatology Consultant (Medical)
Consultant Dermatologist with a specialist interest in Medical Dermatology
We are seeking a Consultant Dermatologist to join our team at Bristol Royal Infirmary. The role involves working with a specialist interest in medical dermatology and providing care to the Bristol population and surrounding areas. The position will involve set days at the Dermatology Centre, supporting the clinical workforce, resident doctors, and specialist nurse teams. LTFT options are available.
Main duties of the job
Provide comprehensive dermatology services, including assessment, diagnosis, and management of skin conditions, phototherapy, contact dermatitis, skin lymphoma, and nail disease. Support teaching and training of undergraduate and postgraduate trainees, clinical fellows, and GP trainees. Participate in clinical governance, audit activities, and research projects. Engage with local and regional dermatology services.
Experience and Qualifications
* Fully registered with GMC.
* Completion of specialist training (CCT) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) at interview.
* Must be on GMC Specialist Register for Dermatology to start appointment.
* Higher academic qualification (MD, PhD or equivalent).
* Evidence of broad training and experience in dermatology, and a special interest that complements department service strategy.
* Proficient in NHS priorities and clinical governance.
* Strong clinical audit participation and evidence–based practice.
* Research experience, peer‑reviewed publications, ability to increase academic profile.
* Teaching experience for medical students, supervision of trainees, formal teaching qualification.
* Management training, leadership, ability to organise workload, work under pressure.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to build relationships with clinical colleagues and teams, flexibility, and adaptability.
* Willingness to travel to other sites.

* Aware of personal limitations.
* Ability to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional or national levels.

Requirements
* English fluency to the required standard as per Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016.
