Structural Engineer Role at Norse Consulting
Norse Consulting is seeking to hire a Design/Intermediate Structural Engineer to actively participate in producing high-quality structural engineering designs across sectors such as education, housing, leisure, and commercial. The ideal candidate is a pre-Chartered graduate engineer with 2-4 years of post-graduate experience, eager to develop their design skills and work towards Chartered status, with full support from senior colleagues.
In collaboration with the Associate Structural Engineer and the Engineering Director, this role involves:
* Structural analysis and design in 2D and 3D environments
* Producing drawings, sketches, and specifications
* Leading cross-disciplinary project coordination with architectural and building services teams
The candidate should have experience and a desire to develop skills in 3D modelling and project coordination. Opportunities for growth into leadership roles will be available based on performance and interest.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate with the structural engineering team to plan workload and resources
2. Complete structural designs meeting quality, cost, and time targets
3. Develop project coordination with architectural and services engineers
4. Support project delivery to meet quality, cost, and schedule goals
5. Maintain strong client relationships and provide professional advice
6. Keep project files and records up to date
7. Identify new business opportunities
8. Contribute to business objectives with approximately 90% fee earning
9. Travel to other offices and sites as required
10. Perform duties appropriate to the role
11. Promote continuous improvement and high-quality standards
12. Show commitment to Norse Way CSR strategy
Candidate Requirements:
* Graduate membership of the Institution of Structural Engineers (Essential)
* BEng or MEng degree, working towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status (Essential)
* Current site card or willingness to obtain one (Essential)
* Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla Structural Design, or similar software (Essential)
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Essential)
* Knowledge of relevant design codes (Essential)
* Familiarity with construction health and safety legislation, asbestos risks (Desirable)
* Knowledge of Building Safety Act requirements (Desirable)
* 2-4 years post-graduate experience in a related role (Desirable)
