The Kingfisher Mother and Baby Unit is an 8 bedded unit providing specialist inpatient mental health care for up to 8 women during the perinatal period.

The successful candidates will be supporting us with providing meals for our service users. This will include meal planning, buying the food, daily preparation, cooking and serving.
You will have autonomy in the development of bespoke menus in collaboration with the clinical team and mothers on the unit. Delivering high quality meals that promote optimum physical health to inpatients, weaning babies, family and staff on request with support of the dietician.
You will liaise with food suppliers, local supermarkets and independent stores to meal plan cost effectively within an allocated budget each week.
You will also deliver health promotion groups focussed on nutrition and culinary skills. You will supervise a cook, providing oversight, direction and safe management of the catering facility. Working together you will deliver meals on a shift rotation ensuring meal provision to the MBU over 14 hours per week. City and Guilds Level 2 or working towards NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent
Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Level 2 Food Safety Certificate or equivalent
Experience of service delivery within a catering environment.
Experience in nutrition, cookery, hospitality and catering principles.
To support and offer advice to staff in relation to food safety standards, service delivery and health and safety issues.
Working knowledge of Food Safety legislation, The Food Act, Food Hygiene Regulations, Food Hygiene Temperatures Control Regulations
Understanding of Health and Safety issues relating to the kitchen and cleaning, including food safety/COSHH.
Knowledge of and ability to provide food allergen information
Knowledge of NHS/Trust Food Hygiene Codes of Practice.
