Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Health & Safety (H&S) Manager to join our team, reporting to the Operations Director. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations, fostering a strong safety culture, and driving continuous improvement in workplace safety standards.
Responsibilities
* Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant HSE legislation, policies, and best practices.
* Risk Assessments: Conduct and review risk assessments, safe working procedures, and method statements.
* Pre-start Safety Checks: Ensure all machinery and workspaces meet HSE pre-start safety checks.
* Training Programs: Lead H&S training programs, including inductions, toolbox talks, and compliance refreshers.
* Safety Culture: Foster a positive safety culture through engagement, awareness campaigns, and best practice sharing.
* Audits and Investigations: Oversee site audits, inspections, and accident investigations, ensuring timely corrective actions.
* KPIs and Improvement: Track and report key HSE performance indicators (KPIs) and drive continuous improvement.
* Leadership Collaboration: Collaborate with senior management to integrate H&S initiatives into business operations.
Key Skills
* HSE Regulations – Strong knowledge of UK health, safety, and environmental legislation.
* NEBOSH or IOSH Certification – Professional qualifications in Health & Safety.
* Risk Management – Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate workplace hazards effectively.
* Incident Investigation – Experience in conducting root cause analysis and implementing preventive actions.
* Training & Development – Skilled in delivering safety training and fostering H&S culture.
* Auditing & Reporting – Proficiency in safety audits, compliance checks, and KPI tracking.
Desired Skills
* Environmental Management – Knowledge of ISO 14001 and sustainability best practices.
* Stakeholder Management – Ability to collaborate with internal teams and external regulators.
* Process Improvement – Experience in implementing H&S improvements and driving efficiency.
* First Aid & Fire Safety – Certification in workplace emergency response procedures.
