Benefits and Efficiencies Analyst - 32067

Environment Agency is committed to an inclusive workforce and seeks diversity to benefit staff, communities, and the environment. We are establishing a Transformation Portfolio Management Office (PMO) to drive change, transformation, and continuous improvement. We’re looking for two Benefits and Efficiencies Analysts to join the team. The PMO will shape and optimise the project Portfolios, ensure strategic alignment, enhance decision-making, and provide evidence to manage risk across change and transformation. This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in change and transformation with development opportunities and strong support from the team.

You will be part of the PMO, analysing data from PMO colleagues and project/programme managers across the portfolio, helping to set standards for benefits and value management and embed them. You will help teams identify, value, and validate their project benefits. The PMO (Portfolio Management Office) is part of the Transformation Team within the STA (Strategy, Transformation and Assurance) directorate. The PfMO supports change, transformation, and continuous improvement across the business. STA fosters inclusive, evidence-based and innovative approaches to influence policy and delivery.

* Support the Transformation Team in reporting and evidence-based decision making.

Experience and Skills (Qualifications)

* Strong analytical skills with proven experience as a Benefits Analyst, Efficiencies Analyst, or Business Analyst.
* Proven experience building and maintaining dashboards or reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or advanced Excel).
* Ability to work collaboratively across organisational boundaries and build constructive relationships.
* Clear communication skills; able to explain complex analysis simply and persuasively to non-technical audiences.
* Self-motivation and adaptability; comfortable working independently as well as part of a team.
* Experience producing guidance, toolkits, or frameworks to support colleagues.
* Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures and encourage consideration of diversity in work.
* Opportunity for development and appropriate training will be provided.

Additional Information

* You’ll have an inclusive incident management objective in your development plan; we’ll help you find a role to suit your needs. Appropriate training will be given. The role is hybrid with EA Office base location.
* Some travel and overnights may be required; smart tools are used to stay connected and reduce travel.
* Please read the Candidate / Additional Information Pack. Any queries: rebecca.atkinson@environment-agency.gov.uk
* Applications are “blind” assessed using competency answers. Interviews will be via MS Teams during the week of 3 November 2025.

Competencies

* Data and Information Management: Collects, analyses, interprets, records, manages, develops and shares data appropriately for various purposes. (Competency Description)
* Focuses on Customers and Partners: Addresses needs of internal and external customers, provides rapid and effective responses.
* Achieves Results: Sets and delivers high standards, prioritises tasks and resources to ensure timely results.

Policy and Diversity Statements We are committed to a diverse and inclusive workforce, welcome flexible working patterns (including job share), and offer a Guaranteed Interview Policy for candidates with a disability whose application meets minimum criteria. The Environment Agency is a non-departmental public body sponsored by Defra and aligns with Civil Service guidance on AI usage.
