Customer Delivery Driver - Cardiff Extra
Our Customer Delivery Driver rate of pay starts from £13.35 an hour; this increases to £14.56 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.
Its our policy to offer new colleagues a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, with the option to work fewer hours (minimum 12). Availability will be scheduled within agreed windows and you will receive 3 weeks notice of shifts. We support flexibility: if your availability closely matches our advertised windows, we’re happy to consider you.

About the role
Customers are at the heart of everything we do. As the face of Tesco on the road, you’ll deliver groceries to customers’ homes daily. This role involves more than driving – you’ll interact with customers, provide great service and support your team.
It’s hands‑on, physical and full of variety. No two shifts are the same, and you’ll always have managers and colleagues at base ready to help.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
* Ensuring the van and trays used are clean and orderly.
* Leaving the back yard clean, tidy and free of rubbish, picking up litter if seen.
* Washing trays as part of the tray wash process.
* Loading the van and checking its roadworthiness.
* Communicating with customers about order changes, codes, substitutions and refunds.
* Taking care of products and deliveries as if they were your own.
* Explaining the subsidy policy regarding substitutions.
* Delivering within the customer’s time slot.
* Calling the customer before arriving if early.
* Calling the store if running 30+ minutes late.
Requirements
* Build relationships with colleagues and create team spirit.
* Warm and welcoming in interactions with customers and colleagues.
* Act quickly to respond to changing needs and embrace change.
* Energetic and driven to deliver beyond expectations and balance work and life.
* Share ideas with manager and colleagues for store improvement.
* A valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (Full or Automatic) with at least 12 months experience and no more than 3 penalty points.
