In collaboration with Dementia UK, Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust (KRFT) is seeking a registered nurse passionate about providing relationship-centred dementia care, with a strong emphasis on advocacy and equality for this client group. The successful candidate will join our Dementia and Delirium team based in the Emergency Department at Kingston Hospital.
About the role: Admiral Nurses are specialist dementia nurses supporting individuals with dementia and their families who have complex needs. This new role involves providing specialist support, guidance, and practical solutions to families and individuals living with dementia, aiming to prevent hospital admissions and facilitate safe discharges. Ongoing support from Dementia UK will help maintain and enhance your clinical expertise. You will also have access to postgraduate courses and professional development opportunities aligned with the Admiral Nurse Competency Framework.
Candidate requirements: You must be NMC registered (adult/mental health/learning disability) with significant post-registration clinical experience working with people with dementia and supporting their carers in various settings, including acute care. Formal postgraduate knowledge of dementia is also required.
Key responsibilities:
* Providing specialist bio-psychosocial assessments and support for people with dementia and their families
* Facilitating education and training for staff in evidence-based dementia care
* Providing clinical leadership, policy development, and quality improvement
* Offering consultancy to other health and social care professionals regarding dementia
