Senior Unified Communications Consultant – Microsoft Teams Voice & Avaya Migration
Location: Remote (UK-based preferred) with occasional customer site visits
Role Overview:
Seeking a highly experienced Senior Unified Communications Consultant to lead and deliver a comprehensive discovery and transformation report for migrating an enterprise Avaya on-premise telephony environment to Microsoft Teams Voice. The successful candidate will produce a detailed consulting report covering current architecture, Teams deployment options, migration stages, risks, commercial considerations, and post-migration support strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead discovery workshops with client stakeholders across IT, Network, Telephony, and Security domains.
2. Assess the existing Avaya telephony architecture, including PBXs, call routing, SBCs, integrations, and trunking.
3. Map current architecture to target Microsoft Teams architecture using Direct Routing, Operator Connect, and Calling Plans.
4. Document and evaluate Teams Voice deployment options relevant to the customer.
5. Identify dependencies, gaps, risks, and organizational readiness for cloud telephony adoption.
6. Develop a staged migration strategy with timelines, costs, and technical steps.
7. Create a comprehensive report including executive summary, recommendations, migration stages, risks, architecture evolution, integrations, commercial models, ROI, diagrams, BOM, capacity planning, vendor comparisons, and relevant artifacts.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale telephony migrations from legacy PBX to Microsoft Teams Voice.
* Deep knowledge of Avaya systems (Aura, IP Office, CM) and telephony infrastructure.
* Expertise in Microsoft Teams Voice ecosystem: Operator Connect, Direct Routing, Calling Plans, Teams Phone System.
* Understanding of regulatory requirements and integrations (PCI-DSS, MiFID II, call recording, CRM).
* Experience producing high-standard customer-facing consulting artifacts.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
* Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Voice Engineer Expert (MS-720) or equivalent.
* Avaya certifications (ACSS, ACIS) or similar vendor credentials.
* Experience with compliance voice recording platforms (NICE, Verint, ASC, RedBox).
* Familiarity with managed service transitions or frameworks like ITIL, TOGAF.
