At JAB Recruitment, we are supporting a leading engineering and construction organisation within the energy sector to source an experienced HDD and Outfall Lead for a long-term contract opportunity. This role will play a critical part in the delivery of trenchless installation and outfall scope within a major project environment, working across both onshore and offshore activities.
Role Overview
As HDD and Outfall Lead, you will take ownership of subcontractor management, technical coordination, and site execution activities related to horizontal directional drilling and outfall installation works. You will act as a key interface across multiple disciplines, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage HDD subcontractors, including coordination of project progress meetings, technical reviews, risk assessments, and readiness reviews
* Review and coordinate subcontractor design documentation, installation procedures, and as-built deliverables in line with project requirements
* Prepare and deliver operational reporting for each scope, supporting periodic installation engineering and project meetings
* Interface with internal disciplines including HSE, Quality Control, Draughting, and Engineering, as well as client representatives and other subcontractors
* Supervise HDD site activities from mobilisation through to equipment installation, execution, testing, and demobilisation across both onshore and offshore environments
Candidate Requirements
* Proven experience in horizontal directional drilling (HDD) construction within offshore or infrastructure projects
* Strong understanding of subcontractor management and site-based delivery
* Experience interfacing across multi-disciplinary project teams
* Knowledge of diving support works would be advantageous
* Valid OGUK Medical
Contract Details
* Duration: 12-month contract (Q2 2026 – Q2 2027)
* IR35 Status: Outside IR35
* Location: Redcar, with ad hoc travel to London
* Start Date: ASAP
