Senior product engineer - plug and play

London
Nory
Product engineer
Posted: 12 January
Offer description

Let’s fix hospitality, for good. Hospitality is tough – margins are thin, waste is high, and teams are stretched. But it doesn’t have to be this hard. That’s why we built Nory. Our CEO, Conor, knows the pain first‑hand. After founding and scaling Mad Egg in Ireland, he got fed up with juggling “market‑leading” systems, clunky spreadsheets, and endless printouts. So he set out to build the tool he wished he’d had from day one.

Nory is an all‑knowing restaurant management system. It blends real‑time data with AI predictive analytics, giving operators control of their margins. From food prep to forecasting, it’s operational intelligence that helps restaurants run with consistency, certainty, and profit. The result? Thriving restaurants, better jobs, less waste, healthier margins. Learn more about what we are building here.

And we’re just getting started. Fresh off a Series B led by Kinnevik, we’ve grown to 80+ people across Ireland, the UK, Spain and recently, New York – and demand is scaling faster than we ever imagined.

The role

We’re now looking for a Senior Product Engineer to join our growing Plug and Play team. In this role, you’ll have the unique opportunity to build and shape the foundations of Nory’s integration platform, owning complex problems end‑to‑and and helping define how our systems, processes, and engineering culture evolve as we scale. Find out more about what it means to be a product engineer at Nory here.

We’re stack‑agnostic in our hiring and care most about strong engineering fundamentals and the ability to ramp quickly. Our stack includes Python, FastAPI, React, TypeScript, Node.js, AWS (Fargate, Aurora, SQS), Postgres, MongoDB, and Docker.

What you’ll be doing

Our teams are cross‑functional with a high degree of autonomy and responsibility for their product. As a Senior Product Engineer in the Plug and Play team you will own complex integration and platform problems from discovery and design through to delivery, iteration and long‑term evolution. You’ll thrive in ambiguity, helping define what we build and why, while designing robust backend systems and contributing across the stack when needed.

This role isn’t just about greenfield projects; you’ll also strengthen and evolve our existing integrations, improve internal tools and processes, and turn legacy or manual workflows into scalable, reliable systems that enable the team and our customers to move faster.

You will collaborate closely with designers, customer success and other engineers to enhance the product and the system behind it in a tight feedback loop with leadership, production and our customers.

Here are some key projects our team is working on

* Expanding the range of EDI messages we support to enable deeper, more automated customer workflows
* Building and scaling our integrations marketplace, making it easier for customers to discover, enable and trust integrations
* Designing and launching Nory’s public API, creating a secure, well‑documented foundation for external developers and partners
* Improving our integration infrastructure and processes to make existing integrations more self‑serve, scalable and reliable
* Strengthening internal tooling and observability to make integrations easier to debug, monitor and evolve over time

What you’ll bring

* Full‑Stack Technical Depth: Solid production‑level capabilities in both frontend and backend. You’re comfortable with modern frameworks, APIs, and databases.
* Systems Thinking & Design: You contribute to technical architecture, design scalable systems, and take a long‑term view of platform evolution.
* Product & Customer Mindset: You seek to understand customer problems, shape solutions that drive value, and proactively improve the user experience.
* Ownership, Autonomy & Start‑up Readiness: You act with urgency, thrive in ambiguity, and proactively unblock yourself and others to maintain momentum.
* Collaboration & Communication: You work effectively across functions, communicate with clarity, and support a remote‑friendly, async culture.
* Learning Mindset: You embrace feedback, pursue growth, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Nice to have

* Experience designing and maintaining public APIs, including authentication, versioning, and developer experience considerations
* Experience working with third‑party integrations (e.g. POS systems, accounting platforms, marketplaces) and navigating external partner constraints
* Experience integrating with business‑critical systems (e.g. EDI, accounting, HR, payroll, POS, inventory platforms)

What you’ll get in return

* 🌎 Remote‑first working environment – you must work in the UK/EU without sponsorship
* 💰 Competitive salary depending on experience
* 📈 Meaningful equity – everyone is an owner!
* 🌴 35 days of paid leave per year (including bank holidays)
* 🏥 Comprehensive private health insurance via Irish Life (Ireland) and Axa (UK)
* 🍼 Enhanced parental leave and baby loss support
* 📚 Learning & development culture – €1000 personal annual budget + quarterly book budget
* 🖥️ €250 home office workspace budget
* 🥳 Regular team offsites & socials
* 🌎 Work from anywhere for up to 3 months of the year
* 📍 Offices in either London, Dublin or Spain
* 👏 And much more

How we work

Our vision is to build a better future for the restaurant industry. One where operators are in control, margins are stronger, and frontline teams can build careers they’re proud of. To get there, we move fast, stay focused, and hold ourselves to a high bar. Our values guide how we work, grow, and win – together.

We hire humans.

These are the values we live by

* We serve up impact with a side of profit – We prioritise work that delivers real financial results for our restaurant partners.
* We prioritise speed of service – We move fast, unblock quickly, and deliver with urgency.
* We act like owners – We own problems, raise the bar, and build better every day.
* We win as a crew – We grow stronger through feedback, collaboration, and shared wins.

At Nory, we believe that diverse teams build better products. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, identities, and walks of life. We do not discriminate based on gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, family status, age, disability, or race. What matters to us is how you think, how you work, and what you bring to the table.
