Overview
Jersey Opera House is poised to reopen in autumn 2025 following a major £12.7m government funded refurbishment, marking a new era for this much‑loved cultural landmark at the heart of island life. First opened in 1865, the venue has long been a beacon for the performing arts in the Channel Islands, seamlessly blending Edwardian grandeur with contemporary versatility. Now entering a pivotal phase in its history, Jersey Opera House seeks an exceptional Chief Executive to lead its future as a vibrant, inclusive, and financially sustainable institution.
The Chief Executive will work closely with the Board, Government and Island stakeholders to re‑establish the Opera House as a hub for creativity and community, offering a distinctive, high‑quality programme that spans West End touring shows, local talent showcases, education initiatives, festivals and more. As the public face of the organisation, the successful candidate will build enduring partnerships, drive commercial activity and champion the arts across Jersey and beyond.
The Board is seeking a leader with a track record of delivering bold and relevant programmes while managing financial and operational responsibility and nurturing a dedicated staff and volunteer team. Politically aware and commercially astute, they will be skilled at fostering trust across a broad range of stakeholders, from Government and funders to artists, audiences and community groups. Most importantly, they will understand the role of the Opera House within the life of Jersey, and will work to ensure it reflects, enriches and connects the communities it serves.
Jersey Opera House is an inclusive employer and encourages applications from candidates from all backgrounds, particularly those that are underrepresented in the cultural sector.
The deadline for applications is Friday 5th September 2025.
