Dynamic Hazards Specialist (Structural)
Salary: £37,000 to £60,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Location: Leatherhead, Bristol, Burton, or Glasgow
Working Pattern: Flexible hybrid (office and remote)

Areas you will work
* Nuclear energy (new build, operational fleet, decommissioning)
* Nuclear defence (design, substantiation, assurance)
* Renewables (onshore solar, offshore wind)
* Process industries (chemical, hydrogen production)
* Transport (rail, marine)
Your Responsibilities
Responsibilities will vary based on experience but may include:
* Concept development and feasibility analysis
* Civil and structural design and verification (Eurocode, ASCE, AISC) via software and hand calculations
* Hazard assessment and validation (seismic, blast, fire) and safety‑case development
* Structural analysis and substantiation for extreme loads
* Explosion/Blast/Impact withstand assessment
* Fire and explosion risk assessment
* Fire load response analysis
* Vessel failure analysis
* Seismic analysis and qualification
Who We’re Looking For
* Lead and shape projects, manage from scoping to delivery
* Engage directly with clients to define needs and build long‑term relationships
* Develop capability relative to your specialism and own growth opportunities
It Will Be Necessary To
* Communicate and coordinate with clients and consultants
* Guide and check preparation of documents to meet quality standards
Minimum Requirements
* Master’s degree (or higher) in Engineering or related discipline
* Strong communication and technical writing skills
* Strong computer literacy and enthusiasm for learning new applications
Desired Skills and Experience
* Working knowledge of software packages (ABAQUS, ANYSYS, LSDYNA, Autodesk Robot, Revit, AutoCAD)
* Knowledge of programming languages
* Desire to work on safety‑critical infrastructure projects
* Interest or experience in client‑facing consultancy work
* Collaboration mindset and willingness to cross‑discipline work
* Demonstrable technical experience in code‑based assessment; use of structural tools; seismic or dynamic analysis; impact/blast/fire modelling; hazard analysis; safety‑case documentation

Built Environment group ensures safety of structures subject to conventional and extreme hazards. Your colleagues span testing, design, research and advanced analysis, supporting clients from concept to decommissioning.
