We are seeking qualified solicitors and barristers who can demonstrate successful legal practice experience, or experienced law lecturers/academics with legal practice knowledge/experience to join our Academic Team at our Bristol campus, in the role of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer.
You will be providing tuition and support in the delivery of courses which may include the Law Conversion Programmes, the LLM in Legal Practice (SQE1 & 2), Bar Practice Course, undergraduate Law (LLB) and/or other University courses to the best possible standard. The role may also involve conducting the Higher Rights of Audience approved assessments.
We are open to applicants in all areas of law, but we are particularly interested in hearing from solicitors and barristers with experience in Business Law, Criminal Litigation or Property Practice.
Please note these are full time, permanent positions.
As our Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer,you will:
* Deliver high quality teaching and support for learning, including communication with other academics for the continuous improvement of teaching and student support
* Identify the need for developing the content, structure, and assessment within modules with colleagues and make proposals on how this should be achieved.
* Contribute to effective design and review of inclusive learning. Maintain quality standards and regulations in curricular and assessment design.
* Routinely communicate complex and conceptual ideas to those with limited knowledge and understanding as well as to peers using high level skills
* Act as a module tutor, academic coach and sign-post students on pastoral aspects during their learning journey.
Is this you?:
* Sufficient breadth and depth of professional experience in the relevant discipline to develop teaching programmes and learning support
* Professional, credible, commands respect
Requirements for Lecturer positions:
* Undergraduate degree or equivalent in a relevant subject
* Fellowship of Advance HE (HEA) or equivalent or willingness to work towards*
* Relevant teaching qualification or willingness to work towards PGCHE*
* Please note that if you do not currently hold this, it is a requirement of the University that you will enrol into the programme (delivered and financially supported by the University), usually within 12 months of passing probation. Successful completion/ qualification is essential to this role.
Requirements for Senior Lecturer positions:
* Postgraduate qualification or equivalent in a relevant subject
* Fellowship of Advance HE (HEA)
* Relevant teaching qualification
For Senior Lecturers you will have developed significant expertise in: Application and practical delivery of a range of teaching techniques, pastoral care, mentoring colleagues, assessments and marking, team leadership.
