Overview
Our client is a global leadership advisory firm working across all industries and regions. They are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join on an interim basis (12 - 14 months) for a maternity cover. The successful candidate will have proven accounting experience in an international business, excellent attention to detail and the ability to work with pace. This role is to start in June 2026.
Description
The responsibilities of the Assistant Accountant include, but are not limited to:
* Oversee and support all aspects of AP and AR.
* Manage payroll and compliance.
* Verify, allocate and reconcile transactions across GBP, USD, and EUR bank accounts.
* Prepare quarterly VAT returns for approval and submission and ensure compliance with UK tax regulations.
* Assist in the monthly and annual close processes, including ledger maintenance and journal entries.
* Deliver process improvements for operational efficiency.
* Work closely with the Finance Director on any ad hoc duties as requested.
Skills
The skills of the Assistant Accountant include, but are not limited to:
* AAT qualified or ACCA part-qualified.
* Strong knowledge of GAAP.
* Proven experience handling all month-end and year-end duties.
* Experience working in an international business.
* Excellent Excel skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to take initiative and work independently in a fast-paced setting.
