Overview
Please note, Stroke services across Derbyshire are undergoing a review and there will be some changes in service delivery in the future. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our Stroke and Neurology team. The post holder will work in a dedicated OT team alongside a supportive MDT, to deliver occupational therapy as part of a 7 day service. The role provides an opportunity to work across the stroke pathway; as the OT team covers hyper acute, acute and rehabilitation on the stroke unit. The team is committed to delivering high standards of care across the whole patient pathway.
Responsibilities
* Join a dedicated OT team and deliver occupational therapy as part of a 7 day service within the Stroke and Neurology pathway.
* Work across hyper acute, acute and rehabilitation settings on the stroke unit.
* Manage a mixed acute and rehab caseload in a busy setting; demonstrate time management skills and flexibility.
* Communicate effectively with patients and their families in stressful and complex situations; demonstrate good interpersonal skills and be committed to team working within OT and the wider MDT.
* Engage in regular supervision and participate in the staff appraisal system.
* Develop problem solving and specialist clinical skills essential for meeting the demands of the setting.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Passion for providing rehabilitation for people with neurological conditions.
* Ability to manage a mixed acute and rehab caseload; strong time management and flexibility.
* Excellent communication skills; good interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
