Building Control Surveyor
Role Purpose
To provide a quality, customer focused building control service and provide expert advice and support in non-building control matters.
Responsible for:
1. Providing technical leadership in building control for a portfolio of projects including major developments in complex environments.
2. Occasional provision of expert advice and technical support in areas where building regulations may not apply.
3. Supporting Quality Management and business initiatives instigated by the Head of Building Control.
Principal Accountabilities
4. Provide building control service a range of projects or work packages of any size in complex environments, (including major developments)
5. Communicate effectively and regularly with key stakeholders within and outside of Heathrow to ensure that service standards are maintained, projects are delivered in compliance with building regulations and the building control role is developed
6. To assess levels of compliance of relevant projects being handed to the operation on Building Regulations Health and Safety matters, and permit or refuse the handover as appropriate.
7. To operate in accordance with any RBCA and RBI licence obligations
8. Ensure that building control activities meet prescribed performance standards and comply with internal ISO Quality Management processes and systems; provide regular progress reports to the Senior BC Surveyors and/orHead of Building Control and ensure that corrective actions are taken where appropriate.
9. Communicate effectively and regularly with key stakeholders within and outside of Heathrow to ensure that service standards are maintained, and the building control role is developed
10. Provide mentoring and support to less experienced members of the building control team
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Essential
11. Must hold a current licence as a Registered Building Inspector at Class 3G or 3H level (Class 2F considered).
12. Must hold a degree in building control or related construction discipline
13. Must be a full member of a relevant professional institution (such as RICS, CABE, CIOB or CIBSE)
Desirable
14. Experience of building control in multi-tenanted commercial buildings, including fire engineered solutions
15. Experience of Quality Management Systems and Quality Improvement
