Payroll Administrator / Payroll Officer
Location: Stockton-on-Tees
Type : Full-Time / Permanent
We are looking for an experienced Payroll professional to join our busy and supportive payroll team. You will manage a portfolio of clients’ payrolls from start to finish, ensuring accurate and timely processing while providing excellent client service.
Key Responsibilities :
* Register PAYE schemes with HMRC and maintain client payroll records
* Process client payrolls, including starters, leavers, adjustments, and statutory payments
* Handle 3rd party forms, including Attachment of Earnings Orders
* Produce and review payroll reports, manage P45s, and provide payroll journals
* Manage auto-enrolment processes and advise clients on payroll legislation
* Ensure accurate client invoicing and maintain departmental payroll files
* Keep up to date with professional standards and CPD requirements
* Support the overall workload of the payroll department and adhere to best practices
Skills and Experience :
Essential :
* Experience working in a busy, end-to-end payroll environment
* Excellent mathematical ability and attention to detail
* Strong organisational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines
* Competent with Microsoft Excel and good IT skills
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
* Flexible, proactive, and a strong team player
Desirable :
* Experience using IRIS Payroll Professional (formerly Star Payroll)
* Experience with manual PAYE calculations
* Strong decision-making skills
