About the Role
You will be at the heart of our sales operations, leading negotiations and providing solutions that meet our customers' needs. Your expertise will help us maintain our high standards of Environmental, Health, and Safety while ensuring customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
* Read and understand engineering drawings.
* Provide quotations and estimations to customers.
* Act as a point of contact for technical enquiries and sales, negotiating high‑volume sales with existing and new customers of strategic importance.
* Research and identify prospective construction projects and the appropriate contacts to build relationships with.
* Identify customer requirements through appropriate communication channels and refer if outside area of responsibility.
* Support customer in understanding what they want from their project to suggest appropriate products.
* Use the pricing bands guidelines and pricing matrix to decide what to quote the customer.
* Suggest appropriate additional products and services.
* Review status of quoted projects and identify open quotes.
* Ensure all lost quotes are captured in the appropriate system.
* Maintain accurate contract files and diaries so that potential claims can be countered.
* Understand and provide take‑offs for manufactured material from drawings.
* Deal with customer queries by providing answers with technical confidence and product knowledge.
* Develop and maintain positive relationships that generate future sales and repeat business.
* Open and maintain effective communication channels with prospective customers.
* Undertake customer/site visits where necessary.
* Communicate customer feedback and competitor activity to appropriate contacts so the company can adapt to changing market conditions.
* Anticipate customer needs to secure quotes before competitors do.
* Acquire and maintain a thorough understanding of the market position for the company’s products and services.
* Research and develop in‑depth knowledge of the group’s products and services.
* Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of main competitors and recommend strategies to maintain the group’s position.
* Identify opportunities for added‑value projects and ad‑hoc business requirements.
* Support the activities of the wider commercial team with information or administrative assistance as required.
* Resolve problems and customer complaints.
* Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure production schedules meet standards and deadlines.
* Manage specific projects or undertake specific project activity as determined by the business or line manager.
* Travel to specific locations to undertake role requirements as needed.
* Represent the function or business at meetings or events as required.
* Undertake any reasonable request to support the needs of the business.
Qualifications
* Background in estimating/sales within engineering, manufacturing, or construction.
* Degree in mechanical or structural engineering.
* Previous experience in a commercial role within the construction industry.
* Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships.
* Proactive approach to understanding and meeting customer needs.
* Technical competence in steel reinforcement applications and associated costs.
* Experience in construction industry sales (ground workers, civils contractors, frame contractors, etc.) is a strong advantage.

* Salary: £30,000 per annum, depending on relevant experience.
* Bonus: 5% annual bonus based on performance.
* Work‑life balance: Full‑time hours, Monday to Friday (8:30 am‑4:30 pm), with 34 days of holiday.
