Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust is seeking a Medical Advisor (On Call) to join our team providing overnight clinical leadership and emergency support across Yorkshire. The role is a temporary position based on an honorary contract until the end of March 2026.
Main duties of the job
What You’ll Do:
* Be part of a 1-in-6 on-call rota, covering 20:00–08:00, 7 days a week.
* Provide expert clinical adviceto specialist ambulance clinicians, especially in trauma and critical care cases.
* Respond to major incidents, supporting Tactical Commanders with strategic medical input and overseeing clinical interventions at the scene.
* Ensure rapid patient flow from incident sites to hospitals.
* Participate in training and exercisesto maintain operational excellence.
What We’re Looking For:
* Registered Consultant or equivalent with a current license to practice.
* Diploma in Immediate Care (Royal College of Surgeons) – Fellowship desirable.
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in immediate care and pre-hospital environments (e.g., Air Ambulance, BASICS).
* Blue light driving qualification and readiness to respond within 30 minutes of the Yorkshire border.
* Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills under pressure.
