About the role
As the Maritime Cadet Recruitment and Training Officer, you will recruit, train, and deploy crew into our fleet as Officer Trainees. You will serve as a focal point for Officers undertaking development courses.
This role is ideal for someone with excellent administration, communication, and budget control skills. It is essential that you are within commuting distance of Fleetwood Nautical Campus.
Responsibilities
* Ensure diverse recruitment of Officer Trainees, attracting the best candidates
* Interview, recruit, and support Officer Trainees through their training, providing pastoral care
* Complete tonnage tax returns and apply for SMaRT funding, supporting audits
* Maintain links with training establishments and support Officer refresher training and short courses
* Administer development courses, uniforms, and correspondence
* Track and analyze video and distance learning training
* Arrange short courses for qualified Officers, such as Bridge Team management and Cargo handling
* Travel to colleges in the UK and Europe to coordinate courses
* Attend career events to promote James Fisher and maritime roles
* Manage the training budget within approved limits
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
* Experience in training, development, or recruitment
* Experience with government training grants, particularly tonnage tax and SMaRT funding (desirable)
* Willingness to travel to colleges and meet Officer Trainees
* Knowledge of shipboard operations and onboard life
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with electronic crewing systems preferred
* Integrity and compassion to foster trust and fairness
* Ability to support Officer Trainees and plan diverse training assignments
* Innovative thinking to improve training methods
