Overview
Full-time, 40 hours per week, term time including Saturday fixtures. King Edward VI School is seeking to employ an outstanding, enthusiastic, and committed athletic development lead coach to start as soon as possible. This is a superb opportunity to lead a whole school programme in a school with one of the strongest sports programmes in the South of England, which is ambitious for the continued success of the whole sports programme. You would have the opportunity to work with elite performers and teams who regularly compete at regional and national level.
Responsibilities
* Lead on all matters relating to athletic development, strength, conditioning, and fitness for elite performers and sports teams.
* Instil a whole school culture of athletic development, functional movement and active lifestyle to inspire pupils of all abilities.
* Contribute to the wider work of the sports department and the school community.
* Support Saturday fixtures across three terms: boys’ rugby and girls’ hockey in autumn; girls’ netball and boys’ hockey in spring; cricket for boys and girls in summer.
* Work in a busy, thriving sports department and engage with the school’s new gym facility (four lifting stations, a 24-station aerobic room, a fixed weight room and large open space for floor work).
Qualifications
* Ideal for an experienced coach with a strong strength & conditioning or athletics development background who is looking to move into the independent school sector.
* Also suitable for a less experienced coach with a solid coaching foundation seeking to develop broader responsibilities.
Contract and Workload
* Post offered initially on a two academic year fixed-term basis, starting with immediate effect, 40 hours per week term time only.
* Opportunity to provide further input at the preparatory school.
