A local authority is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to provide high‑quality OT interventions for adults and children with a range of disabilities in Rutland. The role focuses on enabling individuals to remain safely in their homes with maximum independence, covering equipment, adaptations, moving & handling, and reablement pathways.
Key Responsibilities
1. Complete holistic OT assessments for adults and children.
2. Prescribe equipment, assistive technology, minor adaptations, and support major adaptations.
3. Carry out complex moving & handling assessments and develop proportionate management plans.
4. Involve service users and carers in assessment, planning, and decision‑making.
5. Demonstrate equipment and ensure safe use.
6. Maintain accurate, timely case notes and update all required systems.
7. Review support plans and adjust as needed for effectiveness.
8. Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants and support Social Workers with OT‑specific guidance.
9. Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across health and social care.
10. Support the Reablement service as required.
11. Engage in ongoing professional development and service improvement.
Qualifications
12. Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy (essential)
13. HCPC registration (essential)
Experience
14. Experience within adult social care or adult health services
15. Experience applying safeguarding policies and procedures
Knowledge
16. Understanding of the Care Act 2014
17. Knowledge of national health & social care frameworks
Skills
18. Confident completing holistic OT assessments and risk evaluations
19. Able to devise and implement reablement goals
20. Strong communication skills (written & verbal)
21. Ability to work collaboratively across agencies
22. Organised, able to prioritise workload effectively
23. Competent IT skills (databases, spreadsheets, email)
