MEICA Advisor – Mechanical Engineer – 32348 at Environment Agency
Overview
The MEICA (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation) role is vital to the efficient running of flood risk pumping stations, water control structures and our wider business. You will join a MEICA team to prioritise, plan and deliver maintenance or replacement of our critical assets, enabling flood protection to homes, businesses and the environment. You will work closely with external contractors to develop a world‑class asset management organisation.
Responsibilities
The role will provide strong technical leadership to assure technical and design standards. It will also monitor quality and advise on technical, safety, legal, environmental and operational requirements across diverse assets and geographic areas. You will act as the technical leader on MEICA activity, liaise with business partners, lead actions on behalf of the team leader and operations managers, and participate in flood incident responses.
Experience & Skills Required
* Comprehensive knowledge of engineering statutory legislation, British and European standards.
* Experience in leading safety investigations, identifying and disseminating learning to improve engineering and behavioural safety.
* Knowledge and experience of Root Cause Analysis, reliability engineering, process improvement, technical leadership, and writing and reviewing technical specifications.
* Minimum qualification of HNC/D or degree level in an appropriate mechanical discipline; an equivalent Level 4 qualification with I‑Eng professional registration may be considered.
* Full UK driving licence is essential.
Requirements
Full UK driving licence. Professional registration at I‑Eng or C‑Eng is preferred but not essential.
