Our Balfour Beatty Highways business is seeking a Sub Agent to join our team on the Highways A57 Link Road scheme. This role is based in Ashton-under-Lyne, Manchester.
We maintain, manage, and operate major highway networks across the UK, supporting local authorities to create thriving communities. We offer high-quality asset strategy, management, and planning consultancy services to a diverse range of public and private clients, prioritizing safety, efficiency, and high standards in all schemes.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and control a section of works, managing a team of Section and Site Engineers.
* Review and improve Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
* Lead accident and incident investigations.
* Mentor team members in technical requirements and resolution of construction issues.
* Implement systems supporting construction compliance.
* Conduct inspections and site audits.
* Monitor production and project progress, translating schedules into graphical formats.
* Manage project budgets and review costs weekly.
* Draft correspondence with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients, understanding NEC contracts.
Candidate Requirements
* Excellent communication skills and a clear understanding of safe work systems.
* Current driving license and CSCS Card.
* SSSTS or SMSTS qualification.
* Knowledge of accident/incident investigation principles.
* Technical expertise in setting out and coaching teams.
* Strong knowledge of construction processes in areas like Earthworks, Drainage, Pavements, etc.
* Understanding of current H&S legislation and NEC contracts.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong interpersonal skills.
