Overview
The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, with responsibility for an annual budget of over £10bn, the Army is a major part of the Ministry of Defence and one of its largest operating centres who employ around 12,000 Civil Servants located at over 300 locations supporting the 110K regular and reserve soldiers across the Army. This Civil Service workforce is diverse, with many different functions and professions ranging from police officers, security guards, trainers, human resources, teachers, and psychologists to storekeepers, financiers, project and programme managers, and policy secretariat staff.
At Andover Support Unit (ASpU), the Transport Support Unit (TSU) provides support to personnel based at Marlborough Lines, Andover. The TSU is a 24 hour 7 days a week operational environment which supports MOD staff to conduct military operations worldwide.
We are offering various roles which include full time and part time hours, at interview we will ask you for your preference.
* Full Time, 37-hour weekly working pattern between Sunday and Saturday.
* Part Time, 24-hour or 16-hour weekly working pattern between Monday and Friday.
The nature of this role does require you to be on-site 100% of the time.
Job description
As a TSU Driver you will ensure adherence to Defence Policy and Governance, and will be responsible for transporting MOD personnel in cars, Multi-Purpose Vehicles (MPVs), or minibuses to different locations across the UK, which can involve overnight stays.
Key responsibilities:
* Conducting driven jobs as tasked by transport clerks in accordance with driver hours regulations.
* Delivering Driver Awareness Training on the vehicles held at the Transport Unit, direct to MOD personnel, providing certification. Full in-house training will be given.
* Conducting first line vehicle maintenance and cleanliness of allocated staff car and TSU fleet vehicles.
* Duties as reasonably required commensurate with the grade.

Essential skills required:
* Licences: Category B, you must not have any pending driving disqualifications
* A proficient driver, with excellent communication skills and good attention to detail
* Excellent time management skills
* Flexibility with an ability to prioritise
* Can work independently and within a team.
* Upon your appointment, it is crucial that you obtain a category D1 licence within the first 12 months of your employment. All expenses related to acquiring your D1 Licence will be funded by the MOD.
