Overview
The role of a Passenger Assistant is to support children and young people with additional needs, providing assistance and maintaining a safe environment on the journey from/to home and school. This vacancy supports a young person/s serving Westfield Arts College - Weymouth. Candidates need to be available morning and afternoon to coincide with school opening and closing times.
Responsibilities
* Support children and young people with additional needs on journeys, helping to maintain a safe environment.
* Demonstrate caring, flexibility and responsibility in line with the needs of the passenger(s).
* Identify hazards and understand how to report them; provide customer care.
Requirements and Qualifications
* Knowledge of moderate and complex learning needs.
* An understanding of safeguarding children.
* Ability to recognise hazards and report them appropriately.
* Physical fitness to run, bend, stretch, push, pull, lift, carry and kneel to provide required care.
Training and Employment Details
* Dorset Travel is an accredited training centre with experienced and qualified trainers.
* New staff will be invited onto a full induction training course covering: Safeguarding, Manual Handling, Emergency First Aid, Customer Care.
* Full training is provided; note you will need Business Insurance to attend Induction and Refresher Training.

Salary and Hours
* Pro-rata salary is based on the number of hours, weeks worked, and paid annual leave entitlement for an employee under 5 years’ service. In the first year, salary may be adjusted to reflect holiday entitlement, and adjustments may also be made at the end of employment for days worked in an academic year.
* £10,154 - £10,312 (Full time Dorset Travel). A regular Passenger Assistant is required from the Weymouth area, contracted at approximately 18.00 hours per week – Term Time Only, commencing at £12.85 per hour.
