Quantity Surveyor
Rail / Civil engineering – Capital Delivery Projects
Location – Pontyclun, South Wales
A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our specialist rail and civil engineering team in the Wales region, playing a fundamental role in the commercial management of long term, secured Civils & Buildings Rail Capital Delivery Projects, throughout Wales.
Business Unit
A busy and fast paced business unit involved in a range of civil engineering works in a variety of sectors to include rail (bridges, embankments, stations, platforms, tunnels etc.), Environment Agency, Local Authority etc. The business unit are involved in multi-disciplinary civils projects across the Wales region, whether one off tendered projects or projects within our long term framework / contract agreements with key clients including but not limited to Capital Delivery Projects.
Existing contracts include CP6 infrastructure projects, Capital Delivery Projects and Buildings & Civils Asset Management frameworks with works typically including bridge re-construction/replacement, upgrades and refurbishments, station work (platforms, access for all etc.), structures including bridges, tunnels, footbridges, flood repair and alleviation to name just a few examples.
The Role
As Quantity Surveyor, you will be reporting to the Senior Quantity Surveyor, working on Capital Delivery Projects across the Wales territory. Your day to day role and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
* Prompt presentation of all applications for payment, including all contractual entitlements.
* Ensuring that payments are received in accordance with the contract terms.
* Prompt submission of estimate / tendering information to the client.
* Prompt presentation of Final Accounts, including negotiation of all contractual entitlements.
* Prompt presentation of weekly cost / value information, delivery schedules and associated Key Performance Indicator (KPI) data.
* Preparation and presentation of Monthly Cost/Value Reconciliations and Final Cost/Value Forecasts.
* Preparation and presentation of forward work schedules and cash flows.
* Procurement, negotiation and placing of Sub-contract Orders.
* Financial and commercial management of Sub-contractors through to settlement of their Final Accounts.
* Ensuring that all contractual letters/ notices and information are presented in accordance with the contract requirements.
* Preparation of appropriate documentation in support of additional payment, variations, claims etc.
* Commercial support to the site and contracts management team.
* Commercial support to the Estimating and Procurement teams.
* Overview and support of Trainee/Apprentice Quantity Surveyors under training as appropriate.
* Close liaison with the client on all commercial matters, including preparation and submission of supporting information.
Requirements
To excel in this position, you will held previous roles in a similar civil engineering / rail contracting organisation(s) and must be self-sufficient, able to take a project from tender award to Final Account agreement. The successful candidate must be a team player with the drive and energy to progress their career in the long term.
* Commercial / Quantity Surveying qualification (minimum Degree/HNC/HND)
* Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor (minimum) in a civils contracting organisation
* Rail experience would be beneficial but not essential
