Project Engineer – Clean Water
Galliford Try is looking for a Project Engineer to join our Infrastructure Clean Water team at Rotherham Yard, Braithwell & Normanton West Yorkshire. The role requires experience delivering water industry schemes, predominantly in sewage and clean water.
What you will be doing
* Outline engineering from inception to completion of schemes utilising in‑house resources, site installation and construction personnel
* Deliver Clean Water projects from Strategic Trunk Mains, distribution mains down to service transfer projects with associated fittings, Prv’s using a variety of installation methods
* Early site investigation works in coordination with the client, design, and project team
* Produce and review health and safety documentation (risk assessments & method statements / project management plans)
* Procure materials
* Attend/undertake factory, site and works testing, commissioning and client training
* Attend and contribute to internal and client design reviews
* Work closely with the design team to gather all required information, participate in regular design reviews and hazard studies to develop the best solution
* Involve in cost to complete / budget reviews with the project delivery teams
* Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors
* Prepare subcontract orders
* Assist with the evaluation and submission of claims for variation works
* Liaise with site manager and site teams to ensure work is completed to programme, budget, and quality
* Develop Inspection and Test Plans and ensure they are completed as the scheme progresses
* Innovate whilst maintaining compliance to current standards
* Prepare & manage project programmes
* Maintain high standards of Health & Safety performance
* Close out all contract documentation such as "As built" drawings, commissioning manuals and operation & maintenance manuals
About you
* Industry applicable electrical ONC/HNC/B.Eng or NVQ equivalent
* Proven experience within the Water Industry
* Commercial and contractual awareness
* Working knowledge of Microsoft packages including Project
* Desire to understand and promote the company purpose, vision, values and culture
* Trustworthy and ethical approach, exercising discretion where required
* Organised, structured and professional, with a passion for excellence
* Flexibility, resilience and the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels
* Excellent communication skills (email/phone/face to face)
* Commitment to the provision of excellent customer service
* Proven influencing and negotiation skills to both internal and external stakeholders
* Experience of leading and managing functions where required
