We are currently accepting applications for Long Term Care Assistant for our Halifax Campus.
The LTCA's are part of the team of staff working on the resident house (CCA's, LPN, RN, housekeeping staff, CSA teams) with interactions with a broader interdisciplinary team. They will work closely with the CCAs and recreation therapy programmers to assist the resident to meet their daily goals, as part of the resident care plan.
Qualifications
* GED
* Experience working in Long Term Care setting is preferred.
Responsibilities
* Support residents in individualized psychosocial activities to meet resident needs outside of personal care activities, under the guidance of the recreation therapy team as per the resident recreation therapy plan.
* Implement and assist in implementation of house based recreation therapy programs. Assist in large group recreation therapy programs both within the facility and in the community.
* Document on the LTCA documentation sheet 1;1s and program implementation.
* Provide dining room support at resident meal times as per the dining support training process. This could include assisting resident/client to dining room; putting on clothing protector; cutting up food, and providing assistance with eating under the instruction and guidance of the registered nurse or licensed practical nurse.
* Assist resident/client to their scheduled on-site appointments, activities, celebrations and events. The assistance may be in the form of assisted ambulation or transporting based on their safe mobility needs.
* Perform house support duties. Answer call bells, assist in putting clothes away and supporting resident to tidy, organize rooms.
* Carry out video chats with residents and their families.
* Other duties as required.
Salary
As per Northwood Scale.
Hours
80 hours bi‑weekly (8 hour shifts).
Effective
Immediately.
