Job Description
About the Role: The Sr. Manager of Culinary Innovation leads and executes the brand's product strategy, collaborating cross-functionally, and developing and commercializing new and improved products and processes across Europe. The role is responsible for delivering innovation projects across the EMEA region of Subway, working with the Marketing team and supporting the Director of Culinary & Innovation to build a strong portfolio and pipeline of products that support Subway's growth strategy.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Support culinary agenda setting, prioritization, and resource allocation, balancing short- and long-term needs. Translate food trends into innovative opportunities, stimulate new food ideas and product concepts. Collaborate on menu strategy development and innovation platforms for value and core menu innovation.
2. Lead projects on existing product improvements, formulary changes, enhancements, and cost initiatives, including product evaluations, refinements, and documentation. Lead menu engineering and core menu initiatives. Develop proficiency in recipe development, packaging, performance testing, and food trend research. Partner with Operations Innovation and QA teams for product commercialization and specifications. Collaborate with Finance to understand cost models.
3. Partner with marketing in the menu innovation process, developing ideas from concept to national implementation. Develop and present new food and beverage items, menu platforms, limited-time offers, and delivery innovations. Identify gaps in current offerings and propose solutions to drive growth.
4. Stay informed on industry trends, consumer requirements, and sourcing of new ingredients. Collaborate with Purchasing on ingredient sourcing, quality assurance, and vendor relationships. Ensure compliance with menu labeling standards through ingredient analysis.
Skills and Abilities Required:
1. Bachelor's degree and technical culinary training with experience in a commercial kitchen.
2. 5 to 8 years in food research and development, with at least 3 years in quick service or grab & go.
3. Strong knowledge of industry and flavor trends.
4. Knowledge of food safety and HACCP principles.
5. Experience with packaged food safety and regulatory requirements.
6. Understanding of culinary art, food science, and nutrition.
7. Proficiency in sensory and consumer research methodologies.
8. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building business cases and articulating them to stakeholders.
9. Self-motivated team player with enthusiasm and cross-functional experience.
