Overview

JOB TITLE: Head of Retail, Insurance Control & Reporting

SALARY: £115,000 - £140,000

LOCATION(S): Bristol

HOURS: Full-time

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites

About this opportunity

This exciting role offers the opportunity to lead, build and motivate a team of c.60 finance professionals in the Retail & Insurance Financial Control and Reporting Team, partnering with Retail and Insurance Finance to deliver a robust control environment which gives confidence in reporting to your stakeholders.

You’ll join us in Group Finance Support (part of GFS), a key function within the Finance community of LBG. We’re a team of c.300 colleagues, with responsibilities including financial reporting and control, people and culture initiatives and strategy implementation.

The team are in the middle of a significant Transformation journey and you will be part of influencing, designing and implementing Finance Transformation over the next few years, both within Group Finance Support and beyond!


Responsibilities

* Drive and positively influence key internal and external partners including Divisional Finance Directors, Risk Partners and our external auditors
* Provide challenge, insight and decision support to the Retail and Insurance Finance teams to improve business controls and performance
* Responsible for ensuring robust risk management processes, including SOX and Risk OpenPages, are embedded within the team, and provide a ‘no-surprises’, high quality Financial Control environment
* Own and be accountable in driving resolution of issues at pace, collaborating effectively across teams to get the best solution for LBG
* Lead the team to support Transformation, including leading and influencing the design and delivery into the key areas of activity
* Build, lead and develop a successful professional, resilient and driven Finance team
* Drive an environment of continuous improvement, in particular through data improvement and use of automation and AI tools
* As a key member of the Leadership team, drive the cultural change to ensure that the team is well placed to deliver for now and for the future

What you’ll need

* Experienced leader with drive, energy and a growth mindset, who leads by example and has experience of leading a large team
* Qualified finance professional with significant post qualification experience in control and management and statutory reporting
* Strong Risk and Control understanding, including LBG Risk OpenPages and SOX framework; with an awareness of the key risks facing LBG Finance
* Excellent communicator, able to influence and articulate complex issues at all levels across LBG, building strong diverse working relationships across different parts of the Group.
* Strategic thinker, with a passion for creating and driving future transformation and continuous improvement within Finance.
* Attract, inspire and lead a successful, diverse professional and high performing team actively managing performance to realise potential and retain talent.
* Qualified finance professional with significant post qualification experience in control and management and statutory reporting
* Strong Risk and Control understanding, including LBG RSCA and SOX framework; with an awareness of the key risks facing LBG Finance
