Overview

Lead Solution Architect position, permanent, hybrid working and based in Birmingham or London. Hours of work: 37.5 (Monday - Friday).

Reporting to the Head of Growth, the Lead Solution Architect will deliver bidding excellence to help secure commercial and public sector opportunities across a broad range of projects and services. The role combines individual contribution with leadership of a high-performing team.

Typical focus areas include designing and articulating solutions for complex and/or integrated services (e.g., transformative IFM, multi-activity support service contracts, and contracts with multiple delivery locations). You will determine the best integrated service delivery model and identify relevant industry partners, assess management and contract structures, and align technology requirements with other service outputs.

The role requires close collaboration with Bid Leads, bid team members, and colleagues in finance, commercial, legal, HR, other business units and operations, including subject matter experts.

What You Will Do

* Develop and articulate high-quality, tailored, and integrated solutions for identified complex requirements in their solution design
* Demonstrate understanding of relevant markets, customers and opportunities to support customer-focused solutions and proposals
* Prepare for and contribute to critical bid and solution development workshops
* Collaborate with operational teams to draw on experience and reach agreement on optimal solution design
* Contribute to the design of Target Operating Models that meet customer needs and align with win strategies
* Design and articulate overarching solution integration offering efficiencies and innovation
* Work with key bid stakeholders to develop compelling written responses that articulate Amey's value proposition and differentiators
* Create and develop storyboards for proposal responses and ensure adherence throughout writing
* Gather information from technical experts to develop responses aligned with storyboards, tone, and plan
* Understand and capture nuances of our solutions to present features and benefits clearly
* Provide feedback to authors on draft storyboards and responses prior to formal reviews
* Contribute to regular solution progress meetings and update on actions
* Demonstrate competitiveness of the solution and its alignment to customer needs and win strategies
* Verify that the commercial offering aligns with the technical solution
* Provide integrated solution support during the bid process
* Contribute to risk and issues register with mitigations and impacts
* Support effective handover to mobilisation and transition teams to enable account teams to launch and run the solution
* Ensure clear record-keeping of all bid documentation

What You Will Bring

* Extensive proven experience as part of a successful bid team
* Strong technical knowledge of IFM and multi-activity contracts and mobilisation processes
* Ability to work without supervision as solutions lead and as an individual contributor
* Excellent time management and prioritisation skills
* Strong bid writing practices, processes, and methodologies
* Experience working with senior colleagues, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to craft high-quality proposals
* Ability to challenge senior stakeholders to drive client-focused solutions
* Strong written English language skills and attention to detail
* Ability to work under pressure in a deadline-driven environment
* Excellent organisational and project management skills
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* Proficient MS Office skills
* Strategic thinking with the ability to balance multiple inputs
* Problem solving and ability to secure buy-in from others
* Strong written and presentational skills
* Strong interpersonal skills and resilience with adaptable communication styles
* Certified to APMP Foundation level or above
* Experience bidding to both public and commercial sectors
* Experience bidding Facilities Management/Technical Services in sectors such as Central Government, Public Services, Defence, Justice, Education, Healthcare, Nuclear, Telecoms & Utilities, or Manufacturing & Industry
