We are currently recruiting for a passionate and dedicated Children with Disabilities Social Worker to join our 0-18 Children with Disabilities social care team within the 0-25 service. This team plays a crucial role in providing information, advice, and support to children, young people, and their families to promote social inclusion and positive outcomes. As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the safeguarding of vulnerable children and young people, assess their needs, develop plans, and ensure the provision of appropriate services.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide information, advice, and support to children with disabilities, young people, their families, and carers to promote social inclusion and positive outcomes.
2. Undertake statutory social work in the areas of Child Protection, Children in Need, and the initial stages of Looked after Children. Work within the Public Law outline and Care proceedings when required.
3. Assess the needs of vulnerable children and young people, develop comprehensive plans, and coordinate the delivery of integrated services. Regularly review plans to ensure positive outcomes are achieved.
4. Assessing a person's capacity and authorising and deprivation of liberty before the courts
5. Work collaboratively with the team, external partners, and other agencies to ensure the well-being and protection of children and young people.
6. Attend the office a minimum of 3 days a week and when on duty, be available for in-person visits if required, even when working from home.
Requirements:
7. Qualified Social Worker with relevant Social Work England registration.
8. Experience in court work, including the capacity assessment and authorisation of deprivation of liberty before the courts.
9. Understanding of asset and strengths-based approaches to social work.
10. Previous experience in a Children with Disabilities team is preferred, but candidates with Child Protection experience will also be considered.
11. Car driver with access to a suitable vehicle insured for business use.
