Advanced Specialist Midwife - Risk Management/Quality Improvement
The postholder will carry continuing responsibility for the management and care of a specific client group. The role involves providing individual patient care and in planning, implementing and evaluating clinical care within a specialised area of Women’s services, ensuring compliance with NHS Lanarkshire policies and procedures and maintaining statutory requirements in accordance with the NMC. The post holder will function autonomously with no immediate peers or specialist support, to provide safe, person-centred care.

Location: Based in Maternity & Neonatal within University Hospital Wishaw. Contract type: Permanent. Working pattern: Full time, 37 hours per week.
* Registered Midwife on Part 10 of the NMC Register or Registered Nurse Part 1 of the NMC Register
* Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level
* Post-graduate expertise within the specialty/area of practice demonstrating breadth of knowledge to lead safety, effectively and efficiently
* Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the specialty/area of practice
* Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures to deliver leadership within the specialty/area of practice
* Management qualification or equivalent gained through experience and continuous professional development
* Evidence of Continuous Professional Development in the area of specialty (study days/courses/postgraduate qualification)
* Excellent team-working/leadership skills with the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative
* Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills
* Effective time management skills
* Working knowledge of basic information technology
* Car driver with a full, valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence
Desirable:
* Leadership skills
* Counselling skills
* Presentation skills
* Training/facilitation skills
